Childhood literacy rates are one of, if not the key indicator for future academic success, so it comes as no surprise that Georgia officials have made it a key point of emphasis.  Now, by winning a major federal grant, you can expect those literacy numbers to continue to rise.  News broke this week that the state won a $179.2 million grant from the U.S. Dept. of Education to improve literacy rates.  The aptly named Comprehensive Literacy State Development Grant will by divvied up by the state Department of Education, and officials say that it is proof that their efforts are working – and being noticed by the feds.  By setting up a literacy program that is now winning massive grants to push further, the state’s education system is RISING…
