Gov. Brian Kemp will make the announcement Wednesday morning that Atlanta businesswoman Kelly Loeffler will be his interim pick for U.S. Senator to replace the retiring Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-GA). Georgia GOP chairman David Shafer is expected to attend the event.
Georgia’s Congressional Delegation has been alerted today with other key GOP officials across the state. Senator David Perdue (R-GA) is expected to welcome the new interim Senator.
News also broke that the National Republican Senatorial Committee will support Loeffler and treat her as a full incumbent, which could help ward off any GOP candidates considering a challenge next November.
