The Marietta High School football team won the state 7A championship Saturday night over powerhouse Lowndes High School, breaking a 52 year drought. As a result of winning the championship, along with a top 10 national ranking, Marietta is the only football team in Georgia to be selected to play at the Geico State Champions Bowl Series in Las Vegas next weekend. Georgia approves three-year bachelor’s degree
Georgia is joining a handful of other states in trying out a new three-year bachelor’s degree program meant to get students into the job market faster. The University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents has approved the Bachelor of Applied Science, which cuts down on electives and only requires 90 credit hours instead of the traditional 120.
