One of the big civic cheerleaders and drivers of progress in the Buckhead commercial section of Atlanta is the Buckhead Coalition. At Wednesday’s 31st annual meeting of the high-powered organization, longtime president and former Atlanta mayor Sam Massell surprised his audience by announcing that he’s stepping down from the presidency later this year. Atlanta paid deadbeat $910,00 for virtually no work
It’s outrageous that Atlanta taxpayers paid Foris Webb $910,000 for two years even though he produced little record any “work.” After reviewing invoices and emails, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution found he was supposed to be overseeing a petition calling for a vote on the Atlanta police/fire training center. Yet by the time the “consulting contract” was discovered and payments were being made, the center had opened, the referendum never occurred and petition signatures were forgotten.
