As construction at Augusta’s Plant Vogtle trucks along, one underreported aspect of the project is the massive employment numbers that go along with it.  Latest released numbers show there are 9,000 workers at the construction site, which recently saw a final concrete pour inside the unit 3 containment vessel.  That makes it the largest private sector employer in the region, with a ripple effect that boosts many other satellite industries, (hospitality, dining, entertainment, etc…).  The construction of the first new nuclear reactors in the U.S. in more than three decades hasn’t always been a smooth road – but its impact on the Augusta economy without a doubt has it RISING…
