While political campaigns have been slowed by the coronavirus outbreak and subsequent near-shutdown of the state, candidates are still jostling position, (as long as they aren’t in the now-suspended state legislature anyway). In the Democratic primary to see who will face off against incumbent Sen. David Perdue, there is an early frontrunner, as a recent poll from the AJC shows Jon Ossoff doubling up his closest challenger, Teresa Tomlinson, 30% to 15%. Some big buts – nearly 40% of Democrat voters remain undecided in the race, Perdue holds a fundraising and name-recognition advantage, and it seems likely the race would go to a runoff – but still with an early edge Ossoff’s ship is RISING…
Loeffler to head SBA
Former U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler was the latest Georgian to be tapped by President-elect Donald Trump for a key role in his upcoming administration, in this case to head up the Small Business Administration. Loeffler will lean on her experience as a successful financial executive as well as her political background in leading the SBA, which doles out loans and provides regulatory support for millions of small businesses nationwide.
