One of the highlights of former Gov. Nathan Deal’s eight years in office was his focus on criminal justice reform, eventually resulting in a series of bills that drew praise from both sides of the aisle. Much of that work was then used by President Donald Trump and his team in 2018 as the White House pushed its own prison reform legislation. Now out of office, Deal is continuing his work, leading a team of experts that is submitting recommendations via the nonprofit Council on Criminal Justice. ICE operation catches criminals
During the Biden administration illegal immigrants overwhelmed systems ranging from healthcare to schools. Illegal alien street gangs flourished. Now, though, Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced the results of an enhanced immigration enforcement operation throughout Georgia. “Operation Safe Community” yielded 1,226 immigration arrests in recent weeks. Of those individuals who snuck across our borders, 720 had been convicted or charged with crimes in the U.S. According to ICE, the criminal histories of the arrested aliens include sex crimes, crimes against children, aggravated assault, assault and battery, drug crimes, lewd and lascivious acts, weapons crimes and burglary.
