Attorney Lance LoRusso is representing two Atlanta police officers fired without any due process after using tasers to arrest two people in a car who violated a curfew and refused lawful orders to stop. After the swift firings ordered by Atlanta’s mayor in order to placate rioters, Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard then shamefully charged the cops with aggravated assault with a “lethal weapon.” Here’s the rub: LoRusso and other legal experts point out that a taser is NOT a “lethal weapon” under Georgia law. It is doubtful a grand jury would ever indict the officers due to Howard’s politically-motivated unfairness. But Howard doesn’t have to bring the case before a grand jury– and that means the legal status of the two officers is DRIFTING….
Moldova soon to be welcoming a Georgian
It is rare for a native-born Georgian to serve as an ambassador to a foreign nation, but J. Mark Burkhalter is one of that elite having been nominated by President Donald Trump and then just confirmed by the U.S. Senate to be U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Moldova. The Alpharetta native represented north Fulton County in the General Assembly for 18 years and briefly served as speaker of the House of Representatives. A successful real estate developer, Burkhalter is a University of Georgia alum with a double major in German and Slavic Languages, and Global Studies/Political Science.
