District Judge Steve C. Jones on Monday struck down Georgia’s HB 481, the Living Infants Fairness and Equality (LIFE) Act, an anti-abortion bill that was passed by the legislature and signed by Gov. Brian Kemp last year. A lawsuit from the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia called the law unconstitutional, and the case wound its way through the courts until Jones’ ruling. For now the preceding abortion laws, which allow abortions through 20 weeks of gestation, remain in effect. Georgia approves three-year bachelor’s degree
Georgia is joining a handful of other states in trying out a new three-year bachelor’s degree program meant to get students into the job market faster. The University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents has approved the Bachelor of Applied Science, which cuts down on electives and only requires 90 credit hours instead of the traditional 120.
