“In Atlanta, Violent Crime Surges” was the screaming headline in The Wall Street Journal this week. The paper reported what many Georgia media outlets don’t: “As of July 11, 106 people were shot over a 28-day period, marking a sharp increase from 40 people during the same period in 2019 according to Atlanta Police Department data.” And an eight-year-old girl was among these victims in an area taken over by armed thugs where the police were ordered to stand down by Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. Also, so-called “water boys” have been attacking motorists in the middle of major intersections in recent days if they didn’t “buy” water bottles. In the midst of this “trend of lawlessness,” as Gov. Loeffler to head SBA
Former U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler was the latest Georgian to be tapped by President-elect Donald Trump for a key role in his upcoming administration, in this case to head up the Small Business Administration. Loeffler will lean on her experience as a successful financial executive as well as her political background in leading the SBA, which doles out loans and provides regulatory support for millions of small businesses nationwide.
