It’s been a difficult year for schools without a doubt – but at Atlanta’s Georgia State University, 2020 has seen a new record for overall enrollment. More than 54,000 students signed up for the fall semester, with more than 5,200 freshmen entering the downtown Atlanta campus, breaking the previous record set last year. Moldova soon to be welcoming a Georgian
It is rare for a native-born Georgian to serve as an ambassador to a foreign nation, but J. Mark Burkhalter is one of that elite having been nominated by President Donald Trump and then just confirmed by the U.S. Senate to be U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Moldova. The Alpharetta native represented north Fulton County in the General Assembly for 18 years and briefly served as speaker of the House of Representatives. A successful real estate developer, Burkhalter is a University of Georgia alum with a double major in German and Slavic Languages, and Global Studies/Political Science. As he prepares to locate in a country (a U.S. ally) bordered by Romania and Ukraine, his boat (and Georgia’s) is RISING….
