Conservative organizations across the state are sending letters to Georgia Republican leaders asking for their help in restoring the faith of the voters. The letter states that the “2020 elections have broken the trust that voters have in the election process and that trust needs to be regained through your efforts to bring election integrity back to Georgia for all Georgians.”
The letter is addressed to Georgia Republican State Leaders — including Governor Brian Kemp, Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, Speaker of the House David Ralston — and members of the Georgia House of Representatives and Senate. One of the letters obtained by InsiderAdvantage was signed by leaders on behalf of officers and members of the Chatham County Republican Party, Savannah Area Republican Women’s Club, Skidaway Island Republican Club, Ladies on the Right, Tybee Island Republican Club, Savannah Young Republicans and Stand Up, Lead or Shut Up, Inc., a grassroots organization.
After thanking the Georgia Republican leaders for their service to the state, the letters ask for a face-to-face meeting “to discuss further.”
The letter references more than a dozen election reform bills that the groups support, including SB 67, which changes statutory requirements for absentee ballot applications; SB 68, which would ban drop boxes; and SB 71, which would eliminate no excuse absentee ballots. It also states the groups’ opposition to several bills, including HB 113 that would provide for same day registration and voting, and SB 37 which would do away with the Electoral College and have the President elected by popular vote.
The group also calls for the state to review its contract with Dominion and consider changes to the current voting machine system, and to place a ban on foreign-owned businesses selling vote-counting software.
The three e-page letter includes several proposals regarding counting ballots, including supervised ballot voting in nursing homes by Board of Elections staff with party observers present, and the requirement that once ballot counting has begun it continues with no delays or pauses.
In closing, the letter asks for two Georgia Resolutions — once that states Georgia fully supports the Electoral College, and another declaring Georgia as a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary State.
