Yet another Georgia district attorney has found themselves in trouble with the law, this time controversial Democratic DA Mark Jones of the six-county Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit. Jones, who has had run-ins with the law previously, was indicted by a Muscogee County grand jury for nine felonies including charges of attempting to bribe his own prosecutors and influence witnesses. Jones joins Paulding County DA Dick Donovan and ex-Glynn County DA Jackie Johnson (who was actually arrested Wednesday) as state prosecutors now in serious legal trouble. Moldova soon to be welcoming a Georgian
It is rare for a native-born Georgian to serve as an ambassador to a foreign nation, but J. Mark Burkhalter is one of that elite having been nominated by President Donald Trump and then just confirmed by the U.S. Senate to be U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Moldova. The Alpharetta native represented north Fulton County in the General Assembly for 18 years and briefly served as speaker of the House of Representatives. A successful real estate developer, Burkhalter is a University of Georgia alum with a double major in German and Slavic Languages, and Global Studies/Political Science.
