The 2022 legislative session is just getting started, but already some key pieces of legislation are making major strides through the Capitol. HB 841, which seeks to give Cobb voters the choice to split off into the new city of East Cobb, passed out of the House Governmental Affairs Committee Thursday with bipartisan support. That will send it to the full House (and then Senate) for a vote, and if passed there could be on the ballot as soon as November. East Cobb would become the third largest city in the county, granting residents greater local control. Georgia approves three-year bachelor’s degree
Georgia is joining a handful of other states in trying out a new three-year bachelor’s degree program meant to get students into the job market faster. The University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents has approved the Bachelor of Applied Science, which cuts down on electives and only requires 90 credit hours instead of the traditional 120.
