Back in 2014 Clayton County residents voted in favor of a 1% sales tax hike in order to join MARTA, with the promise that the agency would extend heavy rail south into the county. By 2020 those plans were approved – but not for long. The following year the proposal for heavy rail was abandoned, with officials citing rising costs. Now news that MARTA has received $970,000 from the Federal Transit Administration to study potential bus rapid transit lines, a far cry from what residents voted for eight years ago. Former U.S. Attorney Bobby Christine has been called up by the Trump Administration once again, this time to serve as Judge Advocate General for the U.S. Army.
