Back in 2014 Clayton County residents voted in favor of a 1% sales tax hike in order to join MARTA, with the promise that the agency would extend heavy rail south into the county.  By 2020 those plans were approved – but not for long.  The following year the proposal for heavy rail was abandoned, with officials citing rising costs.  Now news that MARTA has received $970,000 from the Federal Transit Administration to study potential bus rapid transit lines, a far cry from what residents voted for eight years ago.  Clayton residents’ faith in MARTA decisionmakers has to be SINKING…
