The biggest TSPLOST news coming out of last month’s election was in Atlanta, but another major region of the state renewed one of their own that will fund hundreds of projects over the next decade.  Voters in the Heart of Georgia Altamaha (HOGA) Region, which spans 17 counties across the center of the state including Candler, Evans, Jeff Davis, Tattnall and Toombs, approved the renewal of a TSPLOST that is expected to generate more than $235 million over 10 years for a total of 580 projects.  The 1% sales tax is particularly important, according to local business leaders, for making repairs and improvements along the Interstate 16 corridor, which sees millions of trucks taking cargo from the Port of Savannah out across the state and into the rest of the country.
