A new report from City of Atlanta Inspector General Shannon Manigault says that former Mayor Kasim Reed may owe the city some $84,000 for funds he used to pay for health insurance and take a trip to South Africa. According to the investigation the money came straight from Atlanta taxpayers, not a special deferred payment account as Reed originally claimed. Moldova soon to be welcoming a Georgian
It is rare for a native-born Georgian to serve as an ambassador to a foreign nation, but J. Mark Burkhalter is one of that elite having been nominated by President Donald Trump and then just confirmed by the U.S. Senate to be U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Moldova. The Alpharetta native represented north Fulton County in the General Assembly for 18 years and briefly served as speaker of the House of Representatives. A successful real estate developer, Burkhalter is a University of Georgia alum with a double major in German and Slavic Languages, and Global Studies/Political Science.
