The issue of legalizing sports betting has seen its fortunes rise and (mostly) fall over the past several legislative sessions, but now gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams is making it a key part of her campaign. Abrams, speaking at an Atlanta event this week, called for full legalization of both casino and sports betting, promising to direct its tax revenue into expanding education funding including the HOPE scholarship.
