No, not that green jacket. Gov. Brian Kemp and wife Marty were recently presented with the Green Jacket Award from Georgia 4-H for their ongoing support for the youth leadership organization. Kemp has been involved with 4-H since first taking office as a state senator in 2003, and Marty has invited members to the Governor’s Mansion and helped found the First Flock project, which installed a chicken coop on the mansion grounds. Moldova soon to be welcoming a Georgian
It is rare for a native-born Georgian to serve as an ambassador to a foreign nation, but J. Mark Burkhalter is one of that elite having been nominated by President Donald Trump and then just confirmed by the U.S. Senate to be U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Moldova. The Alpharetta native represented north Fulton County in the General Assembly for 18 years and briefly served as speaker of the House of Representatives. A successful real estate developer, Burkhalter is a University of Georgia alum with a double major in German and Slavic Languages, and Global Studies/Political Science.
