DNR Restricts Reptile Ownership

The Florida Gators took a loss over the weekend, but they weren’t the only reptile to get bad news from Georgia.  The state Department of Natural Resources recently announced it will update its list of animal ownership restrictions in order to blacklist some potentially invasive species.  Restrictions will be put in place for tegu lizards, already a major problem in some parts of south Georgia, as well as several python and turtle breeds, some dangerous fish, and even a self-cloning crayfish species that could prove disastrous if released into local bodies of water.  Ownership of those animals will be restricted to scientific, educational or public exhibition use, and will hopefully keep Georgia’s native flora and fauna RISING…
