Stacey Abrams lieutenant Lauren Groh-Wargo caught heat from both sides of the aisle last week after going on a 52-part Twitter tirade about how Abrams’ gubernatorial loss was “nearly impossible” and that it deserved much of the credit for U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock’s runoff victory. Former Joe Biden aide David Brand said that Abrams “spectacularly failed” and that the rant was taking away from Warnock’s victory. Republicans couldn’t help but enter the fray, with Kemp strategist Cody Hall quipping, “Abrams donors will be so comforted to know they were swindled out of $130 million that the Abrams campaign lit on fire to try and win a “nearly impossible” race.” Oof, Groh-Wargo’s social media rant has her SINKING…
Report highlights maternity care struggles
Expanding access to rural healthcare has been a key priority for legislators in recent years, but there are still areas where Georgia struggles. One of those is access to maternity care, where according to a study by March of Dimes, nearly half of the state’s 159 counties are considered ‘maternity care deserts.’ That means that some 159,000 women in Georgia live more than 30 minutes from a hospital that provides labor and delivery services.
