The University of Georgia Bulldogs’ bid to repeat as national champions in football will once again throw a wrench into the legislative calendar under the Gold Dome. With an awkwardly timed Monday kickoff, the same day that the General Assembly convenes, the legislature will have light schedules on Monday and Tuesday before jumping into a heavier workload later in the week, hopefully buoyed by a Bulldog victory. The legislature is packed with UGA alums and fans, most notably Athens native Gov. Brian Kemp who cleverly scheduled his own inauguration ceremony for next Thursday. Georgia approves three-year bachelor’s degree
Georgia is joining a handful of other states in trying out a new three-year bachelor’s degree program meant to get students into the job market faster. The University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents has approved the Bachelor of Applied Science, which cuts down on electives and only requires 90 credit hours instead of the traditional 120.
