For a brief moment on Friday U.S. Rep. Austin Scott, R-GA, was at the center of the political world as he launched a surprise bid for House speaker. The attempt was more of a shot across the bow of U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-OH, the current leader in the race but a firebrand who still doesn’t have enough support to win outright. But Scott proved quite popular even with the move coming as a surprise, managing to whip up 81 votes compared to 124 for Jordan. Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention
The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens blasted the decision, accusing the DNC of “abandoning Atlanta, abandoning the South, and once again abandoning Black voters.” The snub has Georgia Dems SINKING…
