On Monday the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service came out with a regretful announcement – it was removing 21 species from the federal endangered species list and officially classifying them as “extinct.”  Three of those creatures, the Bachman’s warbler, the southern acornshell and the upland combshell were once native to Georgia forests and rivers, (the latter two were species of mussels).  UFWS officials say they hope the news is a “wake-up call” when it comes to animal conservation here in Georgia and elsewhere – SINKING…
