Atlanta Public Schools have made radical changes to its grading system. Now, if a student fails to turn in an assignment or simply gets everything wrong, they will no longer receive a zero. Instead, they will receive a 50. What? There’s no rationale for this change. A spokesperson from the deputy superintendent’s office says it is “to ensure that it equitably supports our students’ academic growth and empowers them to improve their performance, while also maintaining academic rigor…” Will some adults tell the slow learners on the Atlanta Board of Education that artificially inflating grades won’t help children learn or prepare for life as an adult? Students will be SINKING…
