State, university and public school employees across Georgia were pleased this week after Gov. Brian Kemp announced $1,000 bonuses. For Atlanta Public Schools teachers and staff though, that sentiment turned to dismay when interim Superintendent Danielle Battle said that APS would be rejecting the bonuses, since they had already given out their own mid-year bonuses. Georgia School Superintendent Richard Woods said he was “baffled” by the decision and that the funds were not meant to backfill local school budgets but were explicitly meant to go straight to teachers and staff for the holidays. Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention
The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens blasted the decision, accusing the DNC of “abandoning Atlanta, abandoning the South, and once again abandoning Black voters.” The snub has Georgia Dems SINKING…
