Manuel’s Tavern in Atlanta has been known as a political watering hole, particularly for Democrats, for decades. So it was no surprise when Mayor Andre Dickens planned to speak there this week during a meeting of the Atlanta Young Democrats. But the night before the gathering vandals struck the historic Poncey-Highlands bar, super gluing the locks shut and graffitiing the iconic Coca-Cola mural outside. While no arrests have been made law enforcement officials say they are fairly certain it is the work of protestors against the planned DeKalb Co. law enforcement training center – they have often shadowed Dickens, a key proponent of the center, at his events. Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention
The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.
