It had been known that Atlanta would be selected to host some games during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held jointly at sites in Mexico, the U.S., and Canada. The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.
