It had been known that Atlanta would be selected to host some games during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held jointly at sites in Mexico, the U.S., and Canada.  But on Sunday those matches were confirmed – Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be the site of eight matches, featuring group stage games and two knockout games, including a semifinal.  The city has become one of the premier soccer hotspots in the U.S. between the success of Atlanta United in MLS and securing the new headquarters of U.S. Soccer.  RISING…
