Heading into the legislative session the possibility of some form of Medicaid expansion was very much on the table. Debate over how it might be implemented or what it might look like was fierce, but the idea of adding thousands of uninsured Georgians to the rolls has consistently polled as popular and GOP officials were receptive to having the discussion. But that debate seems to have been put on pause for 2024, as a bill introduced by Speaker Jon Burns Tuesday included language that would create a study committee to examine Medicaid expansion, a sign that the issue is being shelved for the session. Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention
The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens blasted the decision, accusing the DNC of “abandoning Atlanta, abandoning the South, and once again abandoning Black voters.” The snub has Georgia Dems SINKING…
