For over a decade state officials have searched for answers as to how to correct Georgia’s high maternal mortality rate.  And they haven’t found many, the rate is actually increasing statewide as Georgia has risen to the highest maternal death rate in the nation, per Amnesty International.  Research shows that most maternal deaths come from poor and uneducated communities – and most are preventable.  Lawmakers have set aside millions to expand healthcare access for recent mothers, and legislators have proposed new bills like this year’s HB 1037 which would create a Commission on Maternal and Infant Health, but the issue continues to have Georgia mothers SINKING…
