This weekend the city of Savannah hosts its annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and celebrates a special anniversary – the 200th celebration in the city.  What began as a feast in celebration in 1824 is now the third-largest St. Patrick’s Day parade in the nation, behind only New York and Chicago, and brings in hundreds of thousands of visitors for all the weekend’s festivities, making it a huge economic and tourism boon as well.  The parade itself is scheduled for Saturday, March 16th, with celebrations continuing well into Sunday on River Street and across Savannah’s historic streets and parks.
