For the past several years a fierce debate has raged over a mining company’s effort to build out an operation next to the Okefenokee Swamp in south Georgia.  Environmentalists say the proposed mine could damage the region’s delicate water table, while representatives from Twin Pines Minerals say it will not damage the swamp.  The Georgia House yesterday passed SB 132, which would pause the process for three years.  Critics though say the legislation has loopholes that could allow the mine to move forward despite the bill.  Don’t expect this issue to go anywhere – despite the bill the swamp mine Okefenokee fight has both sides DRIFTING…
