Georgia’s prison issues came to a head when more than 150 people were arrested for their parts in a “sophisticated, multi-state criminal enterprise” that worked to smuggle drugs and weapons inside. Included in the arrests were eight Georgia Department of Corrections employees, caught as part of a wide-ranging investigation dubbed ‘Operation Skyhawk’ that found that drones were being used to airdrop contraband into prison facilities. Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention
The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.
