Atlanta’s largest suburban counties, Cobb and Gwinnett, have over and over rejected sales tax hikes that sought to expand public transit.  Both counties have swung to the left in recent election cycles though, and with new referendums on the ballot this year some think they might actually succeed.  A key difference in 2024 – neither referendum includes heavy rail expansion or MARTA, but instead rely more on expanding existing county transit systems and adding more bus rapid transit.  Could that get the sales tax hike approved?  For now the plans remain DRIFTING…
