A few years ago Texas-based gas station/mega-convenience store chain Buc-ee’s took Georgia by storm when it opened locations in Calhoun and Warner Robins. Now another rival, this time Pennsylvania favorite Wawa, is making its grand entrance into the Peach State when it opens its first location on Nov. 14th in Bainbridge, deep in south Georgia. The chain is known best for its high-quality food selection, particularly its submarine sandwiches, and with plans to 26 stores in Georgia over the next decade+ it will make quite an impact in the mostly-rural communities it is targeting. Each Wawa represents about $7.5 million of annual economic impact and will employ roughly 35 associates.
