In 2020 the City of Atlanta created the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) in an effort to root out corruption, a major issue in previous regimes particularly under former Mayor Kasim Reed.  But now city officials are saying that Inspector General Shannon Manigault has gone too far in some of her investigations, including showing up at private homes and confiscating personal property, and a task force has recommended that the office’s powers be curbed.  That sets up a clash between Mayor Andre Dickens and OIG, with the city council to vote on whether to adopt the stricter rules.  OIG’s power to investigate corruption in the city government is DRIFTING…
