The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has announced the approval of plans to purchase some 22,000-acres of land adjacent to the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, to the delight of Georgia conservationists. The purchase would include land on the swamp’s southeast corner, where mining company Twin Pines continues to try to get approval to mine for titanium sands amid pushback from local activists. Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention
The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.
