The New Georgia Project, the voting rights group founded by former gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, was slapped with a $300,000 fine for illegally supporting her 2018 campaign – the largest penalty ever given out for violating state campaign finance laws. The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.
