Nearly 50 years ago, Savannah leaders kicked off a major revitalization project on River Street, its famous waterside boulevard, that kicked off a spree of redevelopment that helped turn the city into the beacon of Southern hospitality and tourism that it stands as today.  And now it’s time for a touch up; city officials have announced a new $60 million plan to refurbish River Street, fix up parks and add public amenities over the next five years.  In addition, a new CID dubbed Savannah’s Waterfront Community Improvement District (SWCID) is rolling out its “vision plan” that includes a laundry list of improvements and beautification projects that will serve as a blueprint for the next decade on the water.
