It was 25 years ago when Alpharetta-based Jackson Healthcare founder and CEO Rick Jackson launched a company that has emerged as one of the nation’s largest healthcare staffing firms. This Tuesday, the 71-year-old businessman launched a new venture— a run for governor with a plan to spend an “initial” $40 million to introduce himself to Georgia voters.

His launch video describes him as a “Trump-supporting, straight-talking billionaire businessman with nothing to lose.” Jackson had a tough childhood and then grew up in Georgia’s foster care world. Now he enters another tough arena by entering a Republican primary facing well-funded Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and Attorney General Chris Carr.
