Despite co-sponsoring a bill last session that would have allowed Vinings residents in Cobb County the ability to vote for cityhood, state Rep. Erick Allen (D-Smyrna) has reversed course, now urging his fellow legislators not to support any of the county’s four cityhood movements until further studies can be completed on their impact on the county. There are proposed cities in Vinings, East Cobb, Lost Mountain, and Mableton, which if passed could see referendums on the ballot later in 2022. Georgia approves three-year bachelor’s degree
Georgia is joining a handful of other states in trying out a new three-year bachelor’s degree program meant to get students into the job market faster. The University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents has approved the Bachelor of Applied Science, which cuts down on electives and only requires 90 credit hours instead of the traditional 120.
