The issue of legalizing sports betting has seen its fortunes rise and (mostly) fall over the past several legislative sessions, but now gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams is making it a key part of her campaign. Abrams, speaking at an Atlanta event this week, called for full legalization of both casino and sports betting, promising to direct its tax revenue into expanding education funding including the HOPE scholarship. Georgia approves three-year bachelor’s degree
Georgia is joining a handful of other states in trying out a new three-year bachelor’s degree program meant to get students into the job market faster. The University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents has approved the Bachelor of Applied Science, which cuts down on electives and only requires 90 credit hours instead of the traditional 120.
