A protest against the planned Atlanta law enforcement training center in DeKalb County turned violent Monday when protestors pushed into a line of police officers in riot gear. Tear gas and flash bangs were deployed by law enforcement in the latest protest-turned-near-riot as officers worked to disperse the crowd of more than 400. The “Block Cop City” protest brought together its odd mix of environmentalists and police abolitionists, many from out of state, as they continue to push against the $90 million training facility that will be used to educate police, firemen, and first responders. Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention
The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.
