Last week, for the first time since 2019, the Board of Regents voted to increase student tuition for the 26 institutions that comprise the state’s University System. In-state tuition will rise 2.5 percent in the fall; students from outside Georgia will pay 5 percent more; and foreign students will pay 2 percent more on top of that. High inflation is the main reason. The system is facing rising costs for everything ranging from food and technology to utilities and insurance. Regents, though, hope they can hold the line on tuition next year. DRIFTING…
