Two of Georgia’s biggest counties will have major votes on the ballot this fall as they ponder a penny sales tax hike to expand transit. The Boards of Commissioners in both Cobb and Gwinnett Counties have approved ballot referendums that would raise billions of dollars over a 30 year period to fund transit improvements including bus rapid transit, on-demand microtransit and other improvements. (Not included – MARTA expansion). Historically such major tax hikes have been tough to pass in Cobb and Gwinnett, and with another ballot showdown looming their fate is DRIFTING…
