A bill sponsored by U.S. Reps. Sanford Bishop, D-GA, and Buddy Carter, R-GA, would rename the United States Department of Agriculture National Poultry Research Center in Athens after Francis “Abit” Massey, a longtime lobbyist who represented poultry farmers in the state.  Massey passed away in June after a long career that included being named president emeritus of the Georgia Poultry Federation.  Carter called Massey a “Georgia icon,” whose “dedication to our agricultural industry cannot be overstated, rightfully earning him the nickname ‘Dean of the poultry industry.’”  The honor would have Massey’s legacy RISING…
