State and local leaders alike have been appalled at a spate of violence at the state’s prisons, but unfortunately the crisis is showing no signs of slowing down.  There were 24 homicides in state prisons in the first half of 2024, and 156 deaths overall, putting Georgia on track to see its deadliest year ever in its prison systems.  Separate investigations from the governor’s office, the state Senate, and the U.S. Dept. of Justice are searching for answers, but with extreme understaffing remaining an issue the state’s prison system continues SINKING…
