A federal judge says he is skeptical of a Democratic challenge to a campaign finance law that allows incumbents to fundraise. U.S. District Judge Mark Cohen heard arguments from the Democratic Party of Georgia this week over a 2021 law that allows incumbents to create ‘leadership committees’ that can receive unlimited donations and fundraise during the legislative session. They argue that it favors incumbents and violates free speech laws. But Cohen said that he doubted Democrats had standing to bring a lawsuit on hypothetical future harm to Dem candidates. Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention
The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.
