In 2020 the City of Atlanta created the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) in an effort to root out corruption, a major issue in previous regimes particularly under former Mayor Kasim Reed. But now city officials are saying that Inspector General Shannon Manigault has gone too far in some of her investigations, including showing up at private homes and confiscating personal property, and a task force has recommended that the office’s powers be curbed. Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention
The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.
