The Georgia Environmental Protection Division slammed the City of Atlanta with a $300,000 fine due to major sewage overflows at the R.M. Clayton Water Reclamation Facility on the city’s west side. The fine comes following a lawsuit from environmentalist nonprofit Chattahoochee Riverkeeper over continued pollution of the river. The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.
